About Us
The Markham Municipal Utility District was established in 1964. The purpose of the District is to provide water and sewer service to the unincorporated census designated place of Markham. The original water infrastructure was completed in July 1964, and the original sewer infrastructure was completed in September the same year. Currently the District is responsible for maintaining approximately 20 miles of water and sewer lines. The District’s service area is approximately 0.5 square miles.
New Rates Effective for Bills due 1/20/24
The Markham M.U.D. has received HMGP grant funds from Matagorda County totaling $353,329 for the purchase and installation of automatic standby generators for both water plants and the wastewater treatment plant. The HMGP requires a local fund match of 25% of the total project cost. The new rates will be utilized to meet this match requirement along with helping off set the rising costs of maintaining and upgrading the existing infrastructure.
